About the game

Taco: Hamster Hero is a free action game where players take on the role of Taco, a brave hamster fighting to save his house from dangerous creatures. Developed by Global Outlier, the game features an engaging storyline and immersive gameplay, simultaneously challenging players with dynamic battles against over 100 enemies. Players must strategically use Taco’s abilities to prevail in these intense encounters. The game offers easy one-hand controls, diverse environments, and roguelike elements, allowing endless upgrade combinations that enhance Taco’s capabilities.

Our contribution

N-iX Games collaborated with Global Outlier Gaming on the art production for Taco: Hamster Hero, bringing our expertise to enhance the game’s visual appeal while staying true to its stylized graphics and narrative. Here’s an outline of our contributions:

  • Character Art: Our team conceptualized and created a total of 61 enemies and the final boss. In addition, we prepared several skins for each creature to improve enemy variability.
  • Environment Design: We designed 5 distinct environments, each embodying elements that resonate with Taco’s house and enhance the storytelling and gameplay.
  • 2D Animations: Our animations team worked on bringing to life the 77 game assets, including enemies, a UI element, 7 in-game bosses, and the final boss of Taco: Hamster Hero. Due to the technical requirements, we adhered to a strict limit of bones for each character. This constraint was crucial, considering that the number of enemies on the screen can escalate to hundreds during intense gameplay sessions, requiring meticulous optimization to maintain smooth performance on mobile devices.
