Our partnership with Paradox Interactive began back in 2017 and has only grown stronger since. Over the years, our team has contributed 2D and 3D art for many of Paradox’s strategy titles, including Stellaris, Crusader Kings III, Imperator: Rome, Europa Universalis IV, Hearts of Iron IV, and Victoria 3.
Together, we’ve built a reliable production process that allows our teams to integrate seamlessly into Paradox’s development pipelines. For Europa Universalis V, our work focused on large-scale art production, covering 2D and 3D art as well as animation.
A sequel to the award-winning grand strategy game, Europa Universalis V lets players guide a nation through nearly five centuries of history — from the late Middle Ages to the dawn of the modern era. As in previous installments, players can shape politics, economy, religion, and warfare across a living world filled with complex systems and historical depth.
The game expands on the core formula of its predecessors, introducing new mechanics for diplomacy, economy, and population management. Players can negotiate alliances, govern diverse societies, and reshape history through dynamic choices. Every decision, from trade routes to military campaigns, affects how the world evolves, creating endless possibilities for alternate outcomes.
This installment also brings major improvements to the series’ presentation, including detailed population models, advanced military systems, and new layers of visual storytelling.
Over the course of Europa Universalis V’s development, more than 60 N-iX Games specialists worked as part of Paradox’s extended production team. The group included 2D and 3D artists, animators, art leads, producers, and game designers who collaborated closely with Paradox’s internal departments. Our goal was to deliver high-quality assets that fit seamlessly into Paradox’s established artistic and technical standards.
The project involved several key areas of art production:
Every visual element underwent close research before production started. Our game designers verified details such as clothing, architecture, symbols, and materials, and created guidelines for artists. We aimed to give each nation, religion, and culture a distinct visual identity that reflects its place in real-world history.
For our team, Europa Universalis V was another opportunity to combine research-driven design with large-scale art production, contributing to one of the most detailed and respected strategy franchises in the world.
At N-iX Games, we approach every project as a shared creative effort. Whether it’s handling art production or supporting full-cycle development, we value long-term partnerships and hands-on collaboration. If you’re working on a world that needs to come to life, we’d be happy to be part of it.
Let’s start with an in-depth analysis of your idea, a high-level quote, and project plan. Once we smoothen all the rough edges we can proceed to the complete design, development, and production of your game, followed by release and post-release support.
